Collection

Performance rights in Brazil

Revenue from performing rights in Brazil is carried out through the Central Office of Collection and Distribution, ECAD, which registered a drop of approximately 15.8% compared to 2014, totaling R$ 1.03 billion in 2015.

This decrease is due to a distortion caused by the closing of a number of important settlements with TV Globo, Net and Sky during 2013 and 2014. Because of this, the only line items that did show any drop were from Free to air TV and Pay TV. The other items showed an increase, with the internet presenting the largest rate of growth, at 53.8%. However, the internet represented only 0.67% of the total amount collected by ECAD.

Public performance collection

Domestic

The collection of revenues generated by public performance of music and recordings domestically is carried out by the Central Office of Collections, ECAD. The amount collected in Brasil referring to UBC's public performance repertoire during 2015 reached a total of R$ 409.5 million.

International

Collection from public performance rights for UBC members abroad, which is carried out by societies that represent us outside of Brazil, showed a considerable increase in 2015. A total of R$ 3.8 million in revenues was collected, which represents an increase of 26%. However, this growth was not absolute, as it was influenced by the devaluation of the Brazilian Real against foreign currencies over the year.
